Caribbean Music Festival hits Manhattan this weekend featuring Bahamian Artist Gigi

This Labor Day Weekend, Manhattan comes alive with the vibrant sounds of the Caribbean at the Caribbean Music Festival, happening Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31 at Slattery’s Midtown Pub (8 E 36th St, New York, NY). The three-day celebration will feature internationally recognized performers from across the Caribbean, and one of the most anticipated sets will come from Bahamian artist Gigi.
Meet Gigi: A Rising Star with Deep Caribbean Roots
For those who may be discovering her for the first time, Gigi’s journey is one shaped by passion, heritage, and soulful inspiration.
“I’ve always had a great passion for music,” she shares. “I grew up listening to icons like Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, and Whitney Houston—artists who inspired me with their powerful voices and timeless sounds.”
Gigi’s performance at the festival promises an unforgettable mix of originality and homage. She will perform her own songs, including “Dreamer” and “Wicked”, alongside covers of classics from Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, and Bob Marley.
Her Caribbean identity plays a powerful role in shaping her artistry. Born in Trinidad and Tobago but raised in the Bahamas, she pulls from diverse musical traditions.
“I can appreciate the steel pans of Trinidad and the ‘rake and scrape’ roots in Bahamian culture. I truly value my heritage and how it resonates with my fans,” she explains.
One of her favorite songs to perform live is “Dreamer,” a track she co-wrote and produced with her daughter. “It’s deeply personal,” she says. “I put my career on pause to raise her, and now I get to share that song with her as part of my journey back to the stage.”
For Gigi, it’s about more than just music—it’s about connection. “I hope the audience will feel my personality and presence, and celebrate life together in a vibrant, cultural atmosphere. Being around fellow Islanders always feels like home.”
